❏Narrative text is writing in the form of a narrative telling fiction or fantasy narrative text is also a story that includes events in chronology, which means that time lines are not allowed to jump.
❏Purpose of Narrative text : entertain the readers
❏Generic Structure Of Narrative Text
✒Orientation: In the opening paragraphs where the characters of the story are introduced. (Contains the place, character, and time to read the story, who and when)
✒Complication: The problem parts of the story begin to develop or reach a climax. (Problems start to arise or begin to occur and begin to develop)
✒Resolution: The problem parts of the story begin to be resolved. The problem is resolved, either in a happy "happy ending" or a "sad ending" or bad.
✒Coda / reorientation (optional): A section explaining lessons learned from the story
❏Genres in narrative text:
- Fable : A story that describes an animal.
- Legend : A folk tale that describes how the origin of a place happened
- Myth : This mythical story circulates a lot in society and is generally considered a factual story.
- Fairy tales : Folk stories that are usually referred to as fairy tales or children's stories which contain a lot of sophistication in the story characters and often contain moral messages
- Folk tale : A story that is told from generation to generation so that it becomes part of the traditions of a society
- Love story: if this love story is more the theme of the story which contains the struggle to get love for the characters in the story.
❏Characteristics of Linguistic Narrative Text
- Past tense, verb of the past tense, such as: they lived in a village, he was a poor farmer, etc.
- Action verbs, active verbs, such as: went, walked, sang, slept, drove, etc.
- Time connector or conjunction, conjunctions such as: then, soon, before, after, as soon as.
- Direct speech, direct speech, such as: "You should go now!", Said Laras.
- Indirect speech, indirect speech, such as: the old woman said she didn't find the ring.
- Adjective, adjective, such as: beautiful, old, young, etc.
